Want to Live Longer? Exercise

A 150 minutes or more of physical activity each week increases longevity compared to those who don’t,  according to a new study in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.

According to Newswise,“men at age 20 were estimated to gain as much as 2.4 years of life from moderate activity. Women at age 20 gained about 3 additional years from engaging in moderate activity. The biggest benefit from physical activity was seen in non-Hispanic black women, who gained as many as 5.5 potential years of life.”

One Response to Want to Live Longer? Exercise

  1. Jeff Abbott says:

I can attest to the benefits of exercise. Consider in 2010 exercise was named as the greatest cancer breakthrough of the decade. But there are greater reasons, the circulation greatly accelerates healing and the body’s ability to react to disease and trauma alike. On a related note, exercise is a criteria I have for my doctors, particularly orthopedics. Facts are stubborn things, if a doctor is not living an active/healthy lifestyle, based on evidence, why should you rely on his decisions?
